Inez Grim was born in Holland, where she graduated with a Diploma in Photographic Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague in 1992. Before Immigrating to New Zealand she worked as freelance theatre photographer in Amsterdam. In New Zealand she continues to work for theatre productions. Her ongoing project Life/Theatre also has its origins in the fascination for drama. She is intrigued by the surreal world that the act of 'making a photo' and 'being photographed' can create: instant theatre. A potent mix of shedding inhibitions indulging in fantasies and discovering alter ego’s. The ongoing project Creepy Crawly focuses on the miniscule natural universe of the garden and photography’s ability to reveal that world to the naked eye. She is interested in the paradox of emotions that a confrontation with the enlarged version of the garden world can evoke. Over the last few years Grim has been a finalist in a number of art awards including the CoCA Anthony Harper Award, The Goldwater Art Award and the Waikato National Art Award in New Zealand.
Bing Dawe is one of New Zealand’s most prominent sculptors. Bing has also contributed to art education in Canterbury through his role as Programme Co-ordinator of Craft Design at the Christchurch Polytechnic since 1989. Throughout his career of more than 20 years his distinctive sculpture has reflected environmental and political concerns both global and local. His works are in major collections throughout New Zealand and overseas.

Welcome to the sixth year of Open Spaces Open Places. The project runs alongside and is part of the Northampton Festival.

Focusing on the visual arts, the project features photography, painting, sculpture, installation, site specific work, a fine art documentary video and much more. The exhibitions celebrate the talent of eighteen artists from Northamptonshire and beyond.

OSOP’s key aims this year is to commission five artists to make new work and develop new partnerships. Chris Wood, John Murray, Russ Maggs and Anna Pharoah are commissioned to make new art work. OSOP is delighted to announce the new partnership with University College Northampton providing a bursary award for Janet Cooper, a Fine Art student.

Walking tours (a guided tour to meet the artists in the venues): A wonderful opportunity to meet the artists and talk about their work. All tours to begin outside the Central Library at 11 am on Friday June 10th, Saturday June 18th and June 25th. Tour lasts approximately one and a half hours and free coffee will be provided for those who complete the journey!
