Initiatives that were designed specifically for nature preservation are very beneficial to the planet. Even small changes can make a very large impact. By restoring and protecting natural areas this ensures better health of the planet and for those that live on the earth.

There are several projects around the world that are considered forest carbon projects. These nature preservation projects include stopping the reduction of trees or replanting trees to preserve forests. These forests will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which combats climate change. Some specific projects include the Atlantic forest in Brazil, Berau district in Borneo, Indonesia, the Garcia river forest in California, Noel Kemff in Bolivia and the Tensas river basin in Louisiana.

There are other projects around the world that help stop special types of environments that are currently threatened. More than half of the world’s coral reefs are killed due to pollution, projects in Florida Keys, the area known as the Coral Triangle, the Gulf coast and the Arctic North aim to restore those habitats that have been damaged.

Other initiatives such as the Clinton Global Initiative strive to connect children with nature. By appreciating nature children will understand how important nature is and to take action to protect nature. There are many initiatives around the world that are dedicated to protecting nature.
